We had the pleasure of welcoming Ms Margaret Burke, an Award Winning Bear Artist from Sydney, who came to Singapore for a short 2 nights stay.
On the first day, Wayne and Philip met her at the hotel and brought her to Chinatown. Our first stop was the famous Buddha Relic Tooth Temple, which houses lots of antique Buddha statues and a tooth relic of Buddha. Wayne's parents also came along to meet Margaret. After visiting the temple, we headed to the nearby Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre for a taste of some local delights!
We had Soya Sauce Chicken Noodles for dinner, it was delicious. The stall is also famous for their succulent char siew and crispy roast pork belly slices but unfortunately they were already sold out in the evening. We also had satay, which is essentially grilled marinated meat on a skewer served with peanut sauce.
After having dinner, we headed to Gardens by the Bay to see the light and sound show at the Supertree Grove. It was enthralling and we were all dazzled by the show.
After the show, we went to Marina Bay Sands for coffee at The Beanstro before we bid good bye and look forward to more adventures that await the next day.
On the second day, Wayne and Philip met Margaret and brought her to Timbre+ which is a new urbanised food hall which offers a diversity of local food fare and restaurant grade food at affordable prices.
At noon, we traveled to Little India and went to Mustafa Centre. After that, we met up with the Singapore Teddy Bear Lovers at City Square Mall. We had yogurt parfaits for dessert at Milk & Honey. Margaret was really excited to meet up with the group and we had a great time chatting and catching up with one another.
We went to Arab Street to explore and had drinks at the Dong Po Coloniel Cafe. After visiting the Children's Little Museum at Bussorah Street, we walked to Bugis+ for dinner at Ramen Champion. It is a unique Japanese Ramen dining concept in which it houses a variety of different ramen store owners who each have their own unique recipes and style of Ramen preparation. It was the first time Margaret had Ramen and she enjoyed it!
All of us enjoyed ourselves playing host and bringing Margaret around Singapore. We hope that she will visit us again soon.
Margaret has kindly agreed to be the judge for our Singapore Teddy Bear Lovers Xmas Bear Competition this year. All of us will use the similar bear pattern from Margaret to make the bear. It will be interesting to see how different everybody's bear will turn out!
